Gyda Jonsdottir

Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator

With over eighteen years in teaching, Gyda has had a varied and colourful teaching history. This is her seventh year at Greenwich Steiner School, during which time, she has been both a Class Teacher and a Learning Support Teacher.

With a BSc (Hons) in Biology and Physiology from University College London and a Post Graduate Diploma in Art Therapy University of Herts, she has also completed the Steiner Waldorf Teacher Training at Steiner House and the Steiner Dyslexia Association Certificate.

Prior to becoming a teacher, Gyda worked as an Art Therapist in the NHS, teaching adults communication skills and working also in her own therapy practice. Gyda loves the tremendous creativity that Steiner education brings – both to the children and the teachers. She enjoys being part of the school as it is easy to see how strengthening and nourishing the education is for the children and their long-term future. Gyda especially loves the fact that Steiner schools meet children where they are developmentally and that Steiner schools are so well positioned to foster resilience in children.
