“Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.” Confucius
Music provision lies at the heart of education provision at Greenwich Steiner School. Like the steady rhythm of the human heart, music is introduced to children from Kindergarten and throughout the school. Through daily singing, children develop a natural love of melody.
- In Class 1, all children learn to play the recorder. This is taught to them by their Class Teacher.
- In Class 3, all children have the opportunity to experience playing a stringed instrument (taught by specialist teachers).
- Children also have an opportunity to play with an ensemble and then in the school orchestra.
- Increasing co-ordination, sharpening concentration and memory, teaching perseverance and social skills – there are as many proven benefits to learning to play a musical instrument as there are different instruments to choose from!
